Running this half marathon was a spontaneous decision since I hadn't trained for it. My running buddies and I ran it as a "training" run for a half marathon in January. The route along the Pacific Coast Highway was gorgeous - can't beat running along the ocean - and the day was spectacular. I finished in just under 3 hours which surprised me considering I hadn't run more than 7 miles in the last few months. I truly appreciate my friends who support and encourage me through my aches and pains and self-doubts!
I also posted audio tweets along the way at http://www.utterli.com/DeniseWakeman/And I called in a quick report to Shirley Jahad at KPCC since they were one of the race sponsors.Comments [1]
After 5 miles along the coast I was tired so a running buddy and I took a walk up the hill from our route to catch the view from the bluff. The site originally housed a big canon (WWII) to protect the L.A. Harbor. Now it's the home of the gorgeous Korean Friendship Bell at Angel's Gate.

A gorgeous morning for a run from Santa Monica, along Ocean Park down to the boardwalk to Venice Beach. Surprisingly warm for a November morning. I haven't been running much in the past few weeks so this 7.5 mile run was tough and everything ached by the time I got back to the car. It's time to get serious now since I've signed up to do a half marathon in January!

Wednesday evening run in Hollywood. First 2 miles up a long, gradual hill. Coming down is so much more fun.
